It’s kind of like an early Valentine’s Day for everyone!! Happy Sweetest Day everyone. Sweetest Day originated in the early 20th century as a means to appreciate sweethearts, family, close friends, and all who enrich our lives. The gift that was often given was chocolates because the chocolate industry concocted another holiday in order to increase revenue.

Sweetest day truly is about celebrating those who have had a positive effect on our lives so here are a few ways of how to let that special someone know you appreciate them:

    • Send boxes of candy, flowers or other sweet sentiments to parents, grandparents, spouses, sweethearts, or to reward neighborhood service workers like mail carriers or newspaper deliverers.
    • Get your baking skills on! Whip up a batch of them pumpkin flavored cupcakes you’ve been eyeing in your pantry or make some pumpkin pie or bread. Who doesn’t love a warm baked good being brought to them?
    • If you’re feeling adventurous today, take your family or sweetheart for a fall foliage tour with stops for fresh apple cider or maybe even go pumpkin picking.
    • Plan the weekend for something special! Spend the day whispering sweet nothings to your special love, or book a bed & breakfast to extend the celebration with a romantic Sweetest Day weekend getaway
    • Just don’t forget either, send a greeting card! Write a message to your family or special someone letting them know how much they mean to you. Bringing a smile across their face is something that will forever be priceless.
